Missing cash back is when you’ve made a purchase, but the cash back hasn’t appeared in your account. Because of time delays between RebatesMe and the merchants, it can take 7 days from the initial purchase for cash back to appear in your account.
If it’s been 7 days since your purchase, follow these steps to report missing cash back:
• Go to My Account
• Click on My Cash Back & Bonuses
• Click on the 7 Days have Passed button on the top of the page
• Fill out the missing cash back form and send
Please note that missing cash back inquiries can only be reported for the past 90 days.
It depends. Each store handles purchases differently and awards cash back at different time intervals. Sometimes it can take up to 90 days to get a missing cash back request approved, sometimes it can happen much sooner.
No matter the store or the policies involved, there are 2 things that happen in order to resolve a missing cash back scenario.
1. RebatesMe has to confirm the Shop Now link was clicked
2. The merchant has to confirm the purchase was made
The RebatesMe team may ask you for a screen shot of your receipt or other bits of information in order to help complete these two steps.
Ideally, this process goes by smoothly and everything gets sorted out quickly.
There are 3 main reasons why cash back goes missing.
The first and most common is that there was simply an error or time lag on the merchant’s end. Every purchase that qualifies for cash back must be verified by the merchant before RebatesMe can post your money to your account. Sometimes there are communication issues between the two systems and a purchase was missed.
The second is that people forget to use the RebatesMe Shop Now link to make a purchase, or they have cookies disabled. In both cases, RebatesMe is unable to track a purchase and therefore can't record any earnings. To ensure cash back is properly tracked, click on the Shop Now link every time you go shopping, or simply download the Cash Back Button instead.
The final reason is that certain exclusions do apply that you might not be aware of. Some merchants have items that are not eligible for cash back. For example, Nike doesn’t allow cash back to be earned from purchases made at their employee store.
All terms and exclusions are posted on each individual merchant page. These can change at a moments notice, though they don’t change often.
This is a situation nobody wants to be in, but it can happen. If you are denied missing cash back, the RebatesMe team will write to you explaining exactly why your cash back was denied.
The reasons for this have already been mentioned above. These circumstances are hard to fight, but there are a few things you can do to protect yourself from missing out on your rewards with RebatesMe:
Keep your purchase receipt:
This helps both RebatesMe and the merchant confirm you’re the one who actually made the purchase.
Don’t shop in incognito mode:
Incognito mode will eliminate your browser history. If there is an issue with RebatesMe confirming that you clicked the Shop Now button, a quick snapshot of your history proving you did visit the merchant page is a quick way to sort this problem out.
RebatesMe does keep a log of which merchant pages you visited in the My Account page, so you can use that as well.
Report any problems quickly:
This helps get the ball rolling sooner. The sooner an inquiry is made, the easier it is to catch a problem.
You do have 90 days to make a report, but merchants often have payment cycles for payment. Missing one cycle might slightly delay your rewards.
Everyone’s situation is slightly different. Sometimes there are variables that are outside of your control or policies that were quickly changed without your knowledge. In any case, you should feel free to reach out to the RebatesMe customer service team if you have any questions or concerns.
They do examine each inquiry on a case-by-case basis, meaning they will be willing to work with you no matter the scenario to try and fix or at least mitigate the problem.
